XCIPTV shows "Login not recognised" even with correct credentials — what to check

My XCIPTV app stopped working yesterday. It shows "Login not recognised" or "Invalid credentials" when I enter my details even though I am 100% sure the username, password, and URL are correct. I have copied them from the email my provider sent and tried multiple times. What is going on?

The most common cause of "Login not recognised" when credentials are definitely correct is a leading or trailing space in the username or password field. When you copy credentials from an email, invisible spaces sometimes get included at the start or end. These do not show visually in the text field but cause authentication failure.

How to check for spaces: tap and hold in the username field after pasting. Position the cursor right at the start — if there is a space before the first character, you will see the cursor position offset slightly. Delete any characters before the first letter and after the last letter of your username and password.

Also check for invisible line breaks. Some email clients on mobile add a line break when you copy text. Try manually typing the credentials character by character instead of pasting to rule this out completely.

UK user — had this exact issue. My password contains a capital letter that my phone's autocorrect was changing to lowercase. The password field does not always show what autocorrect does. Turned off autocorrect, manually typed the password character by character, and it logged in immediately.

XCIPTV-specific tip: if the login screen shows "Invalid credentials" immediately (within 1 second) rather than after a brief loading pause, the app is not even reaching the server — it is failing a local validation. This usually means the URL field has an error: wrong format (must include http:// or https://), wrong port, or trailing characters.

If it takes 3–10 seconds and then shows "Login not recognised", the server is being reached but rejecting the credentials. This means the credentials themselves are the issue — confirm with your provider that your account is still active and that the credentials you have are current.

Ireland — had "Login not recognised" because my account had expired and the provider's server returns a generic invalid credentials message for expired accounts rather than "account expired". Renewed the subscription and it worked immediately.

Check account status with your provider before assuming the app has a bug. An expired account returns the same authentication error as wrong credentials.

Also worth clearing XCIPTV cache: app settings → clear cache. Sometimes cached authentication tokens cause conflicts with fresh login attempts. Clear cache, restart the app, and try login again.

Canada — one more: make sure you are using the Xtream Codes API login format in XCIPTV, not the M3U login format, and vice versa depending on what credentials your provider gave you. They require different URL formats. If in doubt, ask your provider which format to use.
