Resolving buffering on MAG during peak hours — proven methods

Opening this discussion to share what I've learned and hear from others with similar experiences.
 
My MAG buffers heavily between 7-10pm. Same content is fine at other times.
 
This is almost certainly peak-hour server load, not your local connection.
 
Run a speed test at 7pm and again at 2am. If speeds are similar, it's server-side.
 
Does your portal have multiple server options? Some MAG portals let you switch servers.
 
I see a Server Location option in the portal settings but only one is listed.
 
Contact your provider and ask if there's an alternate server URL during peak hours.
 
My provider gave me an alternate portal URL specifically for peak hours. It helped a lot.
 
Another option: lower the stream quality setting in the portal during peak hours.
