Changed my home router to a new model and now my MAG cannot connect to the portal at all. The internet works fine on my phone and computer. The MAG shows "network not connected" or portal loading fails.
Router changes cause MAG connection issues in predictable ways. The most common cause is DHCP reservation — the new router assigns a different IP than the old one.
Also check if the new router has IGMP proxy or multicast settings that differ from your old router. Some streaming protocols use multicast which requires specific router configuration.
First try a full power cycle of the MAG after the router change:
1. Unplug the MAG power completely.
2. Restart the new router and wait 2 minutes.
3. Plug the MAG back in and wait for full boot.
4. Check if the portal connects.
Many post-router-change issues resolve with this simple step.
If that does not work, check the MAG network settings:
1. Settings → Network → Ethernet/Wi-Fi.
2. If set to static IP, update to match the new router's subnet.
3. If DHCP, force a release and renew.
4. Update DNS to 1.1.1.1 if using custom DNS.
Another common cause: the new router uses a different IP range (e.g., 192.168.0.x instead of 192.168.1.x) and the MAG has a static IP configured for the old range.
FIXED: Had two issues simultaneously. The new router used a different subnet and I had a static IP set on the MAG. Switched to DHCP and disabled SIP ALG. Portal connects immediately now.
