Just received my first MAG device. Never set one up before. I have the portal URL from my provider but I am not sure of the exact steps. Can someone give me a complete first-time setup guide?

Complete MAG first setup guide:\n\n**1. Physical setup:**\n• Connect the MAG to your TV via HDMI\n• Connect the MAG to your router via Ethernet cable (strongly recommended over Wi-Fi for first setup)\n• Connect the power adaptor and switch on\n\n**2. Initial boot:**\n• The MAG will show an Infomir splash screen and may take 1–2 minutes to boot fully\n• If it shows a "Portal URL" input screen immediately, proceed to step 3\n• If it boots to a home screen, go to Settings → Servers → Portal URL

**3. Enter the portal URL:**\n• Navigate to Settings → Servers → Portal URL using the remote\n• Select the URL field and carefully type the portal address exactly as provided by your service\n• Press OK to save\n• Return to the main screen — the portal should begin loading\n\n**4. Time zone:**\n• Settings → General → Time Zone — set this to your correct local time zone\n• Incorrect time zone causes EPG to show wrong programme times

UK user — the most common first-setup mistake is mistyping the portal URL. My recommendation: count the characters in the URL before entering it, then count after you have typed it to verify the length matches. Even one wrong character prevents loading.

Ireland — if your portal shows "Portal is not available" or similar error after entering the correct URL: change the MAG network DNS to 1.1.1.1. Settings → Network → DNS1 → enter 1.1.1.1. This resolves ISP DNS filtering issues that are common with UK and Irish ISPs.

**5. Verifying the connection:**\n• After the portal loads, you should see a channel list or main menu\n• Select a channel and verify it plays\n• Check the EPG loads correctly (a programme grid or listing should appear)\n\nIf channels play but EPG shows no data: check the EPG URL is configured in your provider's panel for your specific MAG MAC address.

Canada — note the MAG MAC address: Settings → Information — write it down. You will need this if you ever contact support, replace the device, or the provider requires MAC verification. It is on the device label too but the software-displayed MAC is the one the portal uses.

Australia — initial channel list loading takes time. On first connection to a portal with thousands of channels, the MAG may take 2–5 minutes to download and display the complete channel list. This is normal and only happens on the very first connection or after clearing portal data.

New Zealand — if the MAG remote stops responding during setup: remove the batteries, wait 10 seconds, replace them. The MAG remote uses infrared and occasionally needs a reset. Also check there is no direct bright light between the remote and the MAG IR receiver.
