App keeps stopping in the background on Android — full fix

Android background kill is the bane of my existence.

Pixel 4a here. Even Google's own phone kills background apps aggressively.

Xiaomi is the worst for background kill. Their MIUI optimization settings are brutal.

MIUI fix: Security > Battery > Choose Apps > [App] > No Restrictions. Also disable MIUI Optimizations.

That's buried so deep in the settings. No wonder people can't find it.

Samsung has 3-4 separate settings you need to change. I can list them.

Samsung: 1) Battery > Background Usage Limits — remove app from Never Sleeping. 2) Device Care > Battery > Excluded Apps — add your streaming app. 3) Turn off Adaptive Battery.

That worked! The Adaptive Battery setting was the main culprit on my Galaxy.

OnePlus has a Battery Optimization setting plus a separate App Autostart toggle.

Autostart setting is underrated. Most Android guide misses it.

The developer options have a Background Process Limit setting that can affect this too.
