Smart IPTV on Samsung Tizen: setup walkthrough and common issues

Just bought a Samsung 2023 QLED and want to set up an IPTV app. I have heard Smart IPTV is the most compatible option for Samsung TVs. Can someone walk me through the setup and what common issues to watch out for?
 
Smart IPTV on Samsung Tizen is a reliable choice. Here is the full setup process:\n\n1. Open the Smart TV app store on your Samsung and search for "Smart IPTV"\n2. Install and launch it — the app will display your TV's MAC address\n3. Go to siptv.eu on any browser and click "Upload M3U" or add your service via the MAC address activation link your provider sends\n4. Enter the MAC address from the TV screen on the website\n5. Back on the TV, press the refresh button in the app\n\nFirst channel load can take 30–90 seconds. EPG loads separately and can take a few minutes.
 
One important note: Smart IPTV has a one-time activation fee (a few dollars/pounds, paid once, no subscription). This is paid on the siptv.eu website when you activate your MAC address. It is not a recurring cost and covers the app indefinitely.
 
Common issues to know about:\n\n• EPG not loading: check the EPG URL is entered correctly in your provider panel. It can differ from the M3U URL.\n• Channels showing but not playing: often a DNS issue. Change your TV's DNS to 1.1.1.1 in the TV network settings.\n• MAC address changes: if you factory reset the TV, the MAC address may change, requiring re-activation on siptv.eu.
 
The MAC address changing on factory reset is a crucial point. Do not factory reset your Samsung after activating Smart IPTV without noting down the original MAC. If it changes you will need to contact Smart IPTV support to transfer the activation — they do allow this but it requires proof of the original MAC.
 
UK user — my 2022 Samsung Frame TV works excellently with Smart IPTV. The one issue I had initially was the TV going into power saving mode and dropping the network connection during long viewing sessions. Fixed this in Samsung settings: General → Power and Energy Saving → disable all auto power saving options.
 
Ireland — for Samsung TVs the Smart Hub sometimes shows IPTV app as "Not Compatible" on newer models. This is a regional restriction. Work around it by going into Smart Hub → Settings → Country and temporarily changing country to a less restricted region to install the app. Change it back after installation.
 
The country change workaround does work. I did this on a 2024 Samsung model. After installing and activating, the app works fine even after changing the country setting back. Samsung stores the app installation independently of the region lock.
 
Australia user — Smart IPTV's customer service via their website is surprisingly good for a small app. They helped me re-activate after a TV replacement within 24 hours. The MAC-based activation system is annoying when things change but their support handles edge cases well.
 
One final tip: the Smart IPTV app on Samsung does not support catch-up natively in the same way TiviMate does. If catch-up is important to you, consider using a Chromecast with Google TV or Android TV box alongside the Samsung for catch-up viewing, while using Smart IPTV for live TV.
