Community thread for HorizonView users on Amazon Fire TV devices. Share your setup, app recommendations, and any tips for new users setting up on a Firestick.

UK user — Firestick 4K Max with TiviMate (sideloaded via Downloader). The process is: enable unknown sources in developer options, install Downloader from the Amazon store, enter the TiviMate APK URL, install. Takes about 10 minutes.

Good brief guide. Is the sideloading process the same for all Firestick models?

Very similar across all current models. The menu location for developer options differs slightly between Fire TV generations but the principle is the same.

Ireland — I use IPTV Smarters Pro which is available directly in the Amazon App Store. No sideloading needed. Simpler for users who are not comfortable with the sideloading process.

IPTV Smarters in the Amazon store is a good option for users who want to avoid sideloading. TiviMate is not available in the store so it requires sideloading.

Canada — Fire TV Cube for the best performance. The extra processing power makes a clear difference on high-bitrate 4K streams. If budget allows, worth upgrading from a standard Firestick.

Australia — older Firestick (second generation) showed buffering on 4K that completely disappeared when I switched to a Firestick 4K Max. Device hardware was the limiting factor, not the service.

Older Firestick models have hardware limitations for high-bitrate 4K. The 4K Max introduced much better processing. If you are having 4K-specific issues on an older stick, the hardware is likely the cause.

USA — XCIPTV works excellently on Fire TV. I prefer it over IPTV Smarters for channel switching speed. Both work but XCIPTV is noticeably faster.

XCIPTV 4 on Fire TV is excellent. The channel switching speed improvement in version 4 over version 3 is significant.

New Zealand — tip for new Firestick users: change the DNS on your home router rather than within the app. 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 improves stream resolution speed.

Router-level DNS change is more effective than app-level because it affects all traffic routing, not just the app.

UK — tip for TiviMate on Firestick: in Advanced Settings, increase the Reconnect Timeout from 10 seconds to 20 seconds. Reduces the apparent frequency of brief reconnection events.

Good TiviMate tip. The default reconnect timeout is conservative. Increasing it prevents false re-buffering on brief network fluctuations.

Ireland — I set up both XCIPTV and IPTV Smarters on the same Firestick and use whichever feels right. Both connect to the same subscription. Good to have redundancy.

Having a backup app is good practice. If one has an update issue, the other can carry on.

Canada — the Amazon home screen ads on Firestick are annoying but manageable. Install a custom launcher like Wolf Launcher to get a cleaner IPTV-focused interface.

Wolf Launcher or ATV Launcher significantly improve the Fire TV experience for IPTV users. Clean, simple, no ads on the home screen.

Australia — tip: do not put the Firestick directly behind a thin-bezel TV. Reduces Wi-Fi signal strength. Use the short HDMI extender cable that comes with the Max models.
