MetroStream MAG setup guide and portal questions — community help thread

Android TV boxes are great for tech enthusiasts but overkill for many casual users. MAG does exactly what it says on the tin.
 
Ireland — MetroStream support was very helpful with my MAG setup. They sent a specific guide for my model with screenshots. Much appreciated.
 
Good dedicated support for a specific device model is a positive indicator. Suggests they have experience with the product.
 
Canada — one issue I had: MAG shows 'Incorrect portal URL' after the portal address is entered correctly. Turned out there was an invisible space at the end of the URL I had typed. Cleared and retyped carefully — worked.
 
Invisible trailing characters are a surprisingly common issue with MAG URL entry. The keyboard layout makes them easy to accidentally add.
 
Always delete and retype the URL from scratch rather than editing it if you see 'Incorrect portal URL'. Saves time.

Australia — final note: six months on MAG, zero issues after initial DNS fix. Best streaming device I have owned for simplicity.
