Documenting the significant changes in XCIPTV 4.0 compared to the previous major version.
 
XCIPTV 4.0 introduced a completely redesigned interface with better navigation for large channel lists.
 
The new design is cleaner but took some getting used to for long-term users like myself.
 
Channel switching speed improved noticeably in version 4. Previous versions had a 2-3 second delay.
 
Version 4 switching is near-instant on decent hardware. Major quality of life improvement.
 
Catch-up support was substantially improved. Previously the catch-up interface was unreliable.
 
The EPG layout was redesigned. Some users prefer it, others miss the old grid style.
 
In settings under EPG → Layout, there is a compact mode that is closer to the previous version.
 
Subtitle rendering improved significantly for VOD content with multiple audio tracks.
 
Multi-audio track switching mid-playback now works without restarting the stream.
 
Performance on older Android devices was also improved — XCIPTV 3 was sluggish on 2GB RAM devices.
 
XCIPTV 4 runs acceptably on 2GB devices but 3GB or more is recommended for smooth EPG browsing.
 
The developer has been responsive to community bug reports. Version 4.1 fixed most launch issues.
 
Overall XCIPTV 4 is a substantial improvement. The initial release had bugs but it is stable now.
