After 3 years on MAG: why I finally switched to an Android TV box

I was a MAG loyalist for a long time. Here is what finally convinced me to switch and whether I regret it.
 
I had a MAG 256 for 3 years and it worked well. The portal experience was simple and consistent.
 
My provider started offering VOD and catch-up content that was only accessible through their Android app.
 
MAG portal did not support the VOD interface. I was missing content I was paying for.
 
Yes. The app had search, watch history, continue watching, and a better EPG than the portal.
 
I started with a Mecool KM7 Plus after reading community recommendations. It was the right choice.
 
The transition was more complex than the MAG setup, but the extra features were worth the learning curve.
 
Occasionally the Android app needs clearing the cache. The MAG portal rarely needed maintenance.
 
Overall verdict: Android TV box is significantly better for a full-featured experience.
 
I recommend MAG for users who want absolute simplicity, Android TV for users who want flexibility.
 
Both are good choices depending on your technical comfort level and what your service offers.
