MAG 524 vs Nvidia Shield — honest long-term comparison

Opening this discussion to share what I've learned and hear from others with similar experiences.
 
I've used both MAG 524 and Nvidia Shield Pro for the same service over 6 months.
 
MAG 524: better for traditional portal-based services. Shield: better for app-based modern services.
 
Portal services are optimized for the MAG middleware. Native experience on MAG is more reliable.
 
EPG data loads inconsistently on the Shield app. On MAG the EPG is always accurate.
 
App flexibility: anything on the Play Store or sideloaded works on Shield.
 
Shield also handles local media, gaming streaming (Geforce Now), and media server functions.
 
For a dedicated streaming setup, MAG is simpler and arguably more reliable for its specific purpose.
