USA user — buffering on a Firestick that did not occur on the same service via an Android TV box. Same network, same Ethernet connection. The Firestick was CPU-throttling on the higher bitrate 4K streams.

Settings → Playlists → your playlist → enable Catch-up. Then when you long-press a channel in the guide, you will see the catch-up option appear.

I had this exact problem for two months. Tried everything with the network. Eventually discovered my Android TV box was software-decoding H.265 4K because the hardware decoder was disabled by default in the app settings. Enabled hardware decoding and zero buffering since.

Solved mine by factory resetting just the Smart Hub, not the whole TV. Takes 2 minutes.
