New Zealand — on UFB fibre in NZ, most plans are truly unlimited with no data caps or shaping. Data usage is not a concern for NZ fibre users. However, if you are on wireless broadband (4G/5G home broadband), data caps are common and IPTV consumption can be significant.

UK user — on some Android TV boxes the Settings menu is nested differently depending on the manufacturer's skin. If you cannot find the app storage settings, press and hold the app icon in the launcher and a menu should appear with "App Info" which takes you directly to the storage settings.

Australia — my ISP does not throttle but has poor routing to specific CDN nodes in the evening. A VPN server on a different Australian ISP gives dramatically better performance during peak hours. I tested by routing through a VPN hosted on a different residential connection.

Ireland — had an issue where the provider had renewed the account but on a different "connection" slot than before, effectively creating a new connection entry. The old credentials in TiviMate were still pointing to the previous connection. Provider had to either merge them or send me the new...

Also check that the time zone is correct on your Android device. TiviMate uses device time to align EPG data. If your Android box has the wrong time zone set (e.g., showing UTC when you are in BST/GMT+1), EPG entries will appear shifted by one hour, or EPG matching to channels will fail entirely.

UK — Samsung 2022 QLED, Smart IPTV app, MAC address activation. Setup took about 20 minutes including the activation wait. Very stable since. Picture quality on the QLED panel with high-quality streams is excellent.

USA — Samsung 2024 model. New Tizen version has slightly improved Smart IPTV compatibility. The latest Smart IPTV app version works well on it.

CDN region assignment is worth asking about if local fixes do not fully resolve the issue. It is something providers can often adjust on their end.

MAG is simpler — plug in, enter portal URL, watch. No app management, no updates, no complexity. Android TV box is more flexible but requires more setup and maintenance. For non-technical users or shared households, MAG is often better.

Canada, Ontario — 11 months in. Long enough to have seen different seasons and events. Summer was perfectly stable. The hockey season has put more load on the system but it is holding up well.

LG TVs can be tricky with IPTV apps. Which app did they recommend for your LG model?

I solved my continuous looping by factory resetting the MAG and re-entering credentials. Something in the local storage had corrupted.

I opened a support ticket with my provider and they reset my account — resolved in 30 minutes.

Enable catch-up in settings if your provider supports it — great for watching missed content.

What backhaul types are there?
