The official representative of the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric warned about the consequences of the ban on women working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Afghanistan. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to him, this decision will undermine the work of numerous humanitarian organizations that work throughout the country and help "the most vulnerable categories, especially women and girls."

Earlier it was reported that representatives of the Taliban (the organization is recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia) ordered all local and international non-governmental organizations in the country to suspend the work of female employees.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington is concerned about this decision. "Women play a central role in humanitarian activities around the world," he said. According to him, this decision could have devastating consequences for the people of Afghanistan.
