JioFiber launches new plans with zero installation charges

On April 19, the telecom operator Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. announced their new "Entertainment Bonanza" plan under which the company removed the entry fee and installation charges for new customers choosing postpaid JioFiber connections. The new plans will be available to all consumers on April 22, 2022, according to a statement from Jio.

The company has also announced monthly plans for JioFiber postpaid consumers, as well as the option for low-value plan subscribers to pay Rs 100 for access to six entertainment applications.

"Users will get Internet Box (Gateway Router), set-top box and installation valued at Rs 10,000 at zero cost when they opt for a JioFiber Postpaid connection," Jio said in a statement.

With the new plans, Jio subscribers who have only internet plans priced at Rs 399 and Rs 699 per month may get access to six entertainment apps for Rs 100 extra and all 14 applications for Rs 200 extra, in addition to their existing charges.

According to TRAI data, Jio has been the leader in new subscriber additions in the wireline segment. Reliance Jio surpassed 20-year-old state-owned telecom giant BSNL as the leading service provider in the segment in November, approximately two years after the commercial launch of its fixed-line broadband services.

In February, Jio led the rise in the wireline market, gaining 2.44 lakh customers. Bharti Airtel gained 91,243 customers, followed by Vodafone Idea (24,948), Quadrant (18,622), and Tata Teleservices (3,772).
